In 1922 (Taisho 11), the Kadena Line opened between Naha and Kadena in central Okinawa, followed by the Itoman Line in the south the next year. Plans were made to extend the line north to the hub city of Nago. However, during the Pacific War, fierce fighting destroyed the Light Railway, and railways vanished from Okinawa. Neo Park has recreated a locomotive used on that Light Railway based on the few remaining historical records. It is built to approximately three-quarters of the original size. It operates as a guided locomotive, touring the park grounds. Ride Times: First Departure 10:00 AM / Last Departure 5:00 PM *Tickets for persons with disabilities are not sold online. The park is based on the concept of "coexistence between people, animals, and plants." Rather than simply displaying rare or beautiful species, we organize the exhibits by region and display animals and plants together as they would be found in their natural habitats. Many animals roam freely, allowing visitors to observe their natural behaviors at close range. In addition, a guided train, modeled after the historic Okinawa Light Railway (at approximately three-quarters scale), runs along a 1.2 km track throughout the park. We also host various seasonal events throughout the year and invite you to enjoy your visit.
